Responsibilities

  • Design and build REST APIs and server-side features
  • Model data and write efficient queries for SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Implement authentication, validation and error handling
  • Write unit and integration tests for backend services
  • Help deploy, monitor and troubleshoot services in the cloud
  • Document APIs and take part in code reviews

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of a backend language such as JavaScript (Node.js) or Python
  • Understanding of HTTP, REST APIs and JSON
  • Basic knowledge of SQL databases
  • Comfortable with Git and GitHub
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field

Nice to have

  • Projects on GitHub with a working API
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB
  • Exposure to Docker, Linux or cloud platforms such as AWS or Cloudflare
  • Interest in security and performance
